Your personal umbrella policy will cover claims that exceed your underlying home and auto limits.  It will cover legal fees, court costs, and damages owed in a covered claim. It will also cover property damage and medical bills related to an injury caused by you or a family member. It may also cover certain lawsuits for defamation, libel, and slander.  It is important to note that an umbrella policy will not cover your own injuries, intentional acts, or business activities.  Your business activities will need their own separate insurance policy.
